hey there. i'm still still alive. sorry i don't care very much about xanga, i still care very much about YOU, honey, i promise. also check it, i changed some stuff, what do you think.

i did some really great things in the last few months. i wrote a 60-page screenplay, for example. i think i am in the middle of one of the biggest transition periods, identity-wise, of my life, and i'm not really sure what triggered it - you'd think graduation would do that kind of thing, but i still have four months to go.

anyway. in november i took a trip to new york. it was one of, if not the single, best trip(s) of my life.

those are all from one day (of five).

also it was my first experience with bubble tea.

then in december i took a trip to los angeles.

another really excellent trip, populated by some really excellent people, some of whom were reprising their roles in the aforementioned new york trip.

as well as the set of scrubs, lots of smog and traffic, electric avenue, and dave navarro.

i realized that i have been living on west coast time all my life. also the sum of these two trips informed me that i could probably be rather happy living pretty much anywhere next year, a fact which is both comforting and terrifying.

also by the way have i showed you our kitten? her name is chloe. she is adorable. she used to look like this

,

then she looked like this

,

and now she looks like this

.

i love chloe a lot. also she is technically my roommate's kitten, which makes me like the aunt-i get all the fun stuff and none of the annoying bits of actually raising a child/cat.

i think that is pretty much all i have to say to you people. oh yeah, i'm leaving for philly/nyc/connecticut/dc next week, and in march, i'm going to austin for sxsw. hopefully i will address you again before then, but well, you never know.

i'm still alive. it's time for a new entry. it's my senior year. there's a south african guy named gareth staying at my condo this week. i really love gasoline heart. i'm taking a screenwriting class and it may be changing the way i think about things (in a good way). i built my own dresser (it took two weeks). we have a cute kitten named chloe. i'm going to new york for cmj next month, and i'm seeing sufjan (for the first time!) on thursday. music directing takes a lot of time. so does school and you know, life.

i don't mind.

jenn's may tour 2006

what up dudes i had a big may. here is my travel history of the month.

winston salem-cleveland-charleston (sc)-columbia (also sc)-winston-cleveland-columbus-winston-nashville-winston. admittedly that looks a lot less impressive when you take out all the "winston"s but i spent like at least 3 days there each time, and all the drives were to or from there, so i think it's worth noting. my car's bearings apparently were so near the breaking point by the end of the first trip that i'm lucky i made it home alive (with a speeding ticket, no less), but i got those fixed, got to borrow my mother's car for the south carolina week, and now my car is no worse for the wear...well, except for that back window that won't go up. i have a white garbage bag taped over it right now. it is really awesome.

other than that though. it's been a pretty good month. started off by finishing up exams, went home for a bit and caught a brandtson cd release show (oh those boys..have you heard their new cd?!) then i got to hang out at the beach for a week in a house with 45 of my closest friends. finished that up by seeing brandtson and the rocket summer play and FINALLY re-uniting with the recently european-ized sawah. went back to wake for a few days and kind of camped out with sarah then back home (no tickets or car meltdowns that time), caught a house of heroes show in cbus with good old dee. hometown shows with both them and brandtson are always killer, i was real lucky to catch both this month. then it was time to hurry on back down to school to start my summer business management program, but it wouldnt do to just stay there, so i took off that weekend to see the old boys of bleach back together for a show in the city i can't wait to call home. plus hang out with the always outstanding morgan as well as a dinner with the long-lost kristen cantwell and a lunch with my favorite ex-marketing exec in the world. GOOD TIMES.

now i am back at school for a good solid while, class is HARD and i am also lifeguarding 15 hours a week and doing the music director thing (which could almost be a full-time job on its own) so i am tired ALL the TIME, but i had a good catching-up-on-everything weekend and sarah was here yesterday and this program is only a month long and i have sweet new furniture in my room (you are so jealous of my bed), so it is going to be okay. oh also my (new external) hard drive crashed again, so i lost a lot of my music and all the tv shows i spent the last 5 months downloading, but you know what, after the first time, there's not that much important stuff left to lose. plus the tv shows were illegal anyway. and i just bought my favorite season of scrubs. so like i said. i'm going to be okay.

what's new with you?

okay. i'm sorry. i haven't posted in like 4 months. i still don't really have time to post, i am just starting to feel a little weird with my top entry talking about auckland and nashville and matthew putman and i havent seen any of those things for quite a while now. i'm having a nice semester. i live in a real sweet condo with lots of couches for you to sleep on when you come visit, and one real sweet roommate and two who are plenty nice but might as well be spirits who occasionally creak the floorboards upstairs. i'm going to a lot of shows, trying to make up for lost time. writing a lot of papers, in fact i am avoiding a 20 page one on monty python and its association with the actual historical arthurian legend, right now. i am way less excited about this than you may think, king arthur is not nearly as fun as i was expecting him to be, go figure. i'm staying at wake for my first half of the summer and coming home in july, to lifeguard and intern with celebrity in canton again. and finally get to go to cornerstone with them, i hope. i got elected music director for wake radio next year, which basically means they voted that i am the single person who knows and cares the most about music, in total, of everybody at wake forest. i am not at all confident that this is true but i have to pretend like it is for a year anyway. you can judge for yourself if you want to listen to my show which is on thursdays from 1-3 am. oh also i went to nicaragua for spring break, climbed a volcano, went on a crazy zip line, played with a bunch of cute orphans. alright. i miss terribly almost everybody who could possibly be reading this, especially one of you but you know that already. i can't wait till we all meet again, even if i don't know when that time will be right now.

someday, maybe soon, i might write some more and show you some pictures. no promises, though.

i left melbourne and went to new zealand and took a picture with a "welcome to hobbiton" sign and hiked a little and went in caves and saw some indie movies (shopgirl and young adam and a good woman and the island and cinderalla man which i know is not an indie movie but was awesome...it was a lot of ewan macgregor and scarlett johanssen in those movies). then i went home for 4 days, saw my parents and my church and denison and lovedrug (twice) and took off again. now i am in nashville and it is pretty much the best thing ever. i have been moving so much i kind of feel like i am on tour. things are looking much better since the last entry. although now my external hard drive crashed too so that is still a pretty big issue in my life. but anyway things are looking pretty sweet. denison witmer and lovedrug and will holland (and the rest of those lonely hearts) and trent dabbs and chasing victory are all real nice dudes and pretty great musicians, even better when they let me see them for free. morgan is the coolest person on the planet and i am so blessed to be staying with her. i love everybody at gotee records and dont even care that i spend most of my day organizing press kits, in fact i barely even notice, i love it so much there. today we had a christmas party which included a rousing game of mafia. yes, that mafia. i love everything. i want to work here for serious.

i recently realized that my xanga kind of makes me look like a goofy 12-year-old kid, but i dont know how to fix that without making myself look like an overly serious wannabe scene kid. i guess the real-life impression i make is more important, anyway.

you can just take that one for what it is.

(no will holland you can not call me lionohio)

:)
